Description: Deep Opaque color. Classic Cabernet character with cassis and lead pencil aromas and notes of mocha. Palate – Offering a firm tannin structure in a tighter style of wine with good phenolic ripeness and a defined finish. The Rust en Vrede wines were chosen to be served at the Nobel Peace Prize dinner in Oslo where the late President Nelson Mandela received the Nobel Peace Prize. Rust en Vrede wines were nominated for a consecutive 5 years amongst the top 100 red wines of the World.
Production: The Estate is located on the lower lying slopes of the Helderberg between 85m -130m above sea level. Vinification:The grapes were harvested in February . Primary fermentation took 7 days, followed by 14-21 days maceration. Malolactic fermentation took place in barrels after which the wine was left to mature for 18 months in French oak. The wine undergoes bottle-maturation for a further 9 months before being released.
